New Title: Climate Change in Regional Australia: Social Learning and Adaptation. Edited by J Martin, M Rogers and C Winter
Climate
In this book are case studies of community level approaches to climate change mitigation and adaptation covering communities and governance, farming communities, economics and water.  The cases are based on research being undertaken across Australian communities and show how a social learning approach can bring about fundamental change with lasting impacts at the local level.  The salience of the local approach empowers communities, recognising that they are unique and that they can take action to respond.  It is essential for their survival that they do so.  If ever there is a time for governments to decentralise action, it is now.

The Recruitment and Selection of Vice-Chancellors
for Australian Universities

by Bernard O’Meara and Stanley Petzall

This book examines the processes which are used to recruit and select Vice-Chancellors for Australian universities. While previous research has identified demographic and incumbency patterns, social characteristics and the legal
basis of the roles of Australian VC’s, the actual processes of recruitment and selection of these individuals has not previously been researched in any depth. As such, this study is new and ground-breaking. A regional and a metropolitan university are used as case studies to show parallels between recruitment and selection in universities and in the private sector.
